Using business as a force for good, empowering our communities and people

We advocate in building sustainable businesses that can be used as a force for good; putting people, purpose and planet, alongside profit in our decision making. For the last 50+ years, our brands have championed their communities and people, with a desire to build more inclusive workplaces, industries and societies. Through tailored ESG strategies, each brand invests heavily in tackling the challenges of tomorrow by empowering those around us to create a more equitable world.

This, however, starts within, and we are passionate about supporting, protecting and developing our people, ensuring they can bring their true selves to work. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion statement, enables our people to be their best selves, everyday:

Authentically Different

At Majar Group we strongly believe in being our true, authentic selves and owning our differences. We become more resilient and courageous when we embrace who we truly are and our lived experiences; and we use our vulnerability as a strength, empowering us to foster better connections and relationships with one another.

We whole heartedly believe that our people should be adding to our culture, not fitting into it; and we actively encourage an open, collaborative, and engaging environment that promotes diversity of thought and free thinking.

By talking about, and authentically celebrating our differences, we enrich those around us and our communities. Our journey of learning and discovery is infinite, and we are committed to continuing to learn, progress and champion one another.

Our Inclusion Council

To ensure that we stick by our statement, we have formed an Inclusion Council, where the core objective is to help create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace, in addition to positively contributing to our collective industries and communities.

As part of our inclusion council’s objectives, they help support the wider group, implementing:

  • Inclusive training and development

  • Developing our eco-system of networks and partners

  • Curating and implementing progressive policies and practices

  • Ensuring we celebrate religious, cultural and historic dates

  • Support initiatives around wellbeing and engagement

  • Developing our relationship with our charity partner, MIND

Redefining Business - B Corp™

In 2022, one of our founding brands, Major Players, became accredited with B Corp™ status, and are one of only 6000 businesses globally to be awarded the accreditation. By gaining this status, they have been recognised for redefining success in business across five impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers.

Our ambitions are to continue to use the B Corp framework, a universally recognised accreditation of verified performance, accountability and transparency, across all of our brands.

For a Better Planet

We’re serious about our environmental commitments, and our aim is to become Net Zero in the next few years. In order to help us get there, we have a group of ‘B-Keepers’ who are responsible for our environmental endeavours, ensuring that our group of businesses are putting in place policies and procedures that help us hit our targets.

We already off-set half of all our people’s carbon emissions, through our partnership with Ecologi. So far in 2023, we’ve already funded over 6,500 trees and 10 projects globally, avoiding 243 certified tonnes of C02e. This equates to:

In our aim to become Net Zero, we commit to:

  • Upgrading our facilities and infrastructure (through our landlords and real estate management companies) through renewable energy installations, water conservation measures etc. This is in addition to our current energy conservation measures with equipment, lighting and HVAC.

  • Transparent reporting on our emissions and sustainability targes

  • Developing and enhancing our PSL to work with businesses that are Net Zero, B Corp accredited or working towards some form of environmental accreditation

  • Reduce our waste, with particular focus on becoming a paperless office by 2025

  • Ensuring our digital transformation and tech products are energy efficient through industry leading best practice

  • Developing partnership with environmental first organisations and ensuring our people reduce their environmental footprint where possible i.e. transportation incentive schemes, facilities, virtual technology
